The City of Gillette is proposing to make improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) pre-treatment system. The current pre-treatment system includes flow metering, two Infilco Degremont, Inc., climber screens removal systems, screenings & grit conveyance system, grit removal system including aerated grit chambers, grit blowers, grit pumps, and grit washer. The pre-treatment building also includes space for materials load out, electrical and controls systems, and HVAC systems. South of the Screening Building is the septic unloading systems that includes septage storage tanks and septic metering pumps.
The Gillette WWTF Condition Assessment, completed in 2019, by HDR, determined that the pre-treatment system has considerable maintenance history and is at the end of its useful life. This system is ranked as the highest priority of the recommended High Priority plant improvements.
The intent of this project is to design the new pre-treatment system and prepare drawings and technical specifications for construction. Bidding and Construction phase services will be added by amendment at a later date. The estimated construction cost for the new Headworks Building and equipment is $8.1 million. The proposed design fee is approximately 10% of the estimated construction cost. |
