This project will consist of installing irrigation, plantings, and mineral mulch in the three (3) medians on Enzi Drive, as well as planting beds at the intersections of Enzi Drive and West 4-J Road, Sinclair Street, the pedestrian crossing, Slate Street, and Shoshone Avenue. The irrigation will consist of drip systems to minimize evaporative loss and optimize water usage. Plantings will consist of drought resistant perennials and annuals for variety and color.
The bid package also included an alternative to extend an irrigation main down the west side of Enzi Drive to irrigate proposed planting beds at the south entrance to South Campus, however, it is recommended the alternative not be awarded.
Bid Opening
The bids were opened and read aloud at 10:00 a.m. on April 2, 2013 by the City of Gillette, Purchasing Division. Two (2) bids were received, the results are as follows:
Contractor | Base Bid | Alternate #1 |
G&G Landscaping, Inc. | $189,000.00 | $28,307.00 |
Chalk Buttes Landscaping | $189,968.00 | $26,393.00 |
Architect's Estimate | $168,148.87 | $30,300.70 |
Chalk Buttes Landscaping had a minor irregularity with their bid, neglecting to attach a copy of their Contractor's License, however, their license number was provided on the bid form.
The project was allowed 90 calendar days to substantial completion. This schedule allows for time to receive the sedum plant materials (very drought tolerant) for the medians.
