SUBJECT: |
Council Consideration of a Resolution to Amend Resolution No. 2056 Concerning Terms of Members on the Mayor's Art Council. |
BACKGROUND: |
The Mayor's Art Council was created by the City Council in April of 2003. Resolution number 1097 lays out the organization of the MAC and provides in section A-3 that it consists of 7 members who have 3 year terms. Section A-3 was amended in 2004 to add language about reporting three unexcused consecutive absences to the Council and additional language to clarify that the governing body can remove any member at any time. The Resolution before the Council for consideration would further amend section A-3 to provide that the Mayor "can appoint members for longer terms with the consent of the City Council." The Mayor has indicated that he would like to appoint former City Councilperson Leta Tanner to a lifetime term on the board in recognition of her service to the community. |
