An ordinance has been prepared to clarify language that has caused confusion in the enforcement of the concealed weapons regulations. The ordinance was last amended to align it with the Wyoming State Statutes which allow the carrying of a concealed firearm without a permit if the individual could qualify for a permit. The amended ordinance has been interpreted to imply that an individual who could qualify for a concealed firearms permit would be allowed to carry any concealed weapon. That conclusion was never intended, and is not consistent with Wyoming State Statutes or the enforcement history of this ordinance and leads to absurd results. This ordinance has been drafted to clarify the intent that only concealed firearms may be carried by individuals who could qualify for a State concealed firearm permit and that carrying other sorts of weapons would not be authorized.
