SUBJECT: |
Council Consideration of a Resolution to Approve the Memorial Bench and Tree Program Developed by the Parks and Beautification Board. |
BACKGROUND: |
The Parks and Beautification Board and the City Parks Division have developed a program to allow commemorative benches and trees or shrubs to be installed in City Parks. The cost of the commemorative benches, trees or shrubs and their installation, would be paid by the individuals who wish to commemorate others according to the guidelines of the program. This program is similar to the successful programs in effect for Campbell County’s Lasting Legacy Park as well as the Bricks for Vets program. The Parks and Beautification Board held a discussion at its meeting on August 8, 2013 meeting and voted to endorse this program according to the description of the program that was distributed to Council earlier in the General Information Packet. The presentation entitled Memorial Program is attached with the Resolution. |
