SUBJECT: |
Council Consideration for the Acceptance of Public Improvements for the Gurley Overpass Maintenance Project, Installed by S&S Builders, LLC, in the Amount of $119,445.30. |
BACKGROUND: |
The Gurley Overpass Maintenance Project consisted of sealing the entire deck to reduce infiltration of potentially corrosive salts and moisture. The specified sealant was designed to penetrate small cracks and pores in the deck, thereby reducing the amount of moisture and corrosive salts that reach the reinforcing steel.
This treatment is expected to extend the life of the deck, and prolong the period of time between major maintenance closures.
The project was designed with a 12-day closure. S&S Builders was able to complete the project in five (5) days, allowing the closure to be less than half of the anticipated time. The expedient completion of the project also saved the City valuable inspection time and expense.

The savings was primarily due to final quantity adjustments.
