The Gillette Avenue Improvement Project will include the replacement of the existing storm sewer system and install a new system with increased capacity to adequately handle storm flows within Gillette Avenue.  The storm sewer design indicated that a 4' by 8' box culvert would be necessary from 1st Street to 3rd Street.  The 4' by 12' box culvert that now runs east along the north side of 1st Street will be extended to complete the system.

To avoid delaying the start up of the Gillette Avenue Improvement Project, a portion of the box culvert needed for the project will be precast and staged in Gillette for use when the project begins. This procurement includes supplying and delivering 600 LF of 4' x 8' box culvert and 66 LF of 4' x 12' box culvert.

The bids were opened and read aloud at 10:00 a.m. on November 6, 2013 by the City of Gillette Purchasing Division. Cretex Concrete Products was the only contractor to submit a bid. 

Our consultant contacted other potential contractors and discovered they felt their distance from Gillette would keep them from providing a competitive bid.  One contractor indicated they had an issue with bonding the project.

Cretex Concrete Products submitted a bid in the amount of $239,356.00.   The Engineer's Estimate was $293,280.00.

Funding for this project will be from the Optional 1% Sales Tax Fund 201-10-05-419-70-47401.

I move for the Approval of a Bid Award for the Material Procurement of Storm Sewer Box Culvert Associated with the Gillette Avenue Improvement Project to Cretex Concrete Products, in the Amount of $239,356.00.
