Section 5-I-3 B.(4) of the Gillette City Code contains local amendments to Table R301.2(1) of the International Residential Code. This Table establishes basic climatic and geographical design criteria for the adopted International Building Code and the International Plumbing Code as well as for the International Residential Code. The City's goal is to simplify the administration of climatic and geographical standards, such as wind speeds, which apply to several codes by referring to one comprehensive table. Terminology changes in the 2012 International Building Codes, which has not yet been implemented in the same way in the International Residential Code, has resulted in differing terminology for wind load and wind speed calculation, which have required this amendment to Table R301.2(1) to maintain uniformity. A new section has been added to the Table to show how to calculate 'Wind Loads' for commercial structures regulated by the International Building Code, which is in addition to the establishment of the 'Basic Wind Speed' under the IRC. |
