| Council Consideration of a Bid Award for the 2013 Water Main Replacement Project to DRM, Inc., in the Amount of $989,081.65. |
| BACKGROUND: |
|
The project consists of installing 1865 LF of new 8" PVC water main within Carey Avenue from 1st Street to the north side of 2nd Street, south side of 2nd Street to 4th Street, and 5th Street to 8th Street. Installing 319 LF of new 8" HDD water main within Kendrick Avenue from 1st Street to the south side of 2nd Street. Installing 76 LF of new 8" HDD water main in Carey Avenue from the north side of 2nd Street to the south side of 2nd Street. Installing 35 LF of new 8" HDD water main by boring within 7th Street from the south side of Kendrick Avenue to the north side of Kendrick Avenue. Installing 12" HDD water main within 7th Street from the west side of Kendrick Avenue west approximately 170 LF. Rehabilitate the existing pavement and repair failed concrete curb and gutter, driveways, valley gutters, and sidewalk as appropriate.

The City of Gillette, Purchasing Division, opened bids for this project at the City Warehouse on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:30 PM. The results of the bid opening are as follows:

Construction Estimate:
The total construction cost for this project was estimated at $1,578,030.00 and was prepared by KLJ. The low bid was $989,081.65, approximately 37.3% lower than the Engineer's Estimate.
Budget:
Monies for this project has been budgeted from 1% Optional Sales Tax Fund #201-10-05-419-70-47410 in the amount of $2,400,000.00.
Contractor's Review:
DRM, Inc. has no apparent problem with their bid.
