SUBJECT:
An Ordinance Amending Gillette City Code Sections 17-6.A.1, 17-6.B.1, 17-6.C.1, 17-6.D.1, and 17-6. E.1, to Revise Rates for Electrical Service Supplied by the City of Gillette.
BACKGROUND:
An ordinance has been prepared to increase the revenue to the electrical enterprise fund by 5%. Electrical customers pay a monthly flat fee Customer Charge and an additional Energy Charge based upon their monthly consumption measured in kilowatt hours. In addition General Service Rate customers pay a Demand fee calculated with a demand meter per kilowatt month as shown or computed from the readings of the City's demand meter installed at the customer's location for the 15 minute period of customer's greatest use during the billing period. Each of the 5 separate electrical rate categories will be increased to yield an overall revenue increase of 5% although individual rates will vary slightly above and below 5%. The new rates will take effect on bills dated after May 1, 2014. A typical residential customer using 750 kWh will see an increase from $71.43 to $77.46.
