| Council Consideration of a Resolution Authorizing the Preparation of Annexation Documents for Industrial Areas and Other Unincorporated Areas and Subdivisions Between the City Limits and Crestview Estates Subdivision. |
| BACKGROUND: |
This Resolution has been drafted to begin the review of areas to recommend for inclusion in the annexation of some of the properties between the Gillette city limits and the Crestview Estates Subdivision. It includes a broad specific list including Mohan, Winland, WCW, Lysle, Thomas, Wyoming Machinery, Sharon, Robertson Industrial and Southern Drive Industrial subdivisions, and then adds a catch all provision to include other neighboring unsubdivided properties. With the help of GIS, we have prepared a map showing all of the tracts of land covered by annexation agreements and another map showing the various tracts and subdivisions in the same area as the annexation agreement map.
If the Resolution is approved staff will prepare a Recommendation that will list all the properties on a new map to be included in the annexation. At the same time we will send letters to the owners of the properties covered by annexation agreements to ask them to sign new petitions, as they agreed to in the annexation agreement. We have requested new petitions from land owners of land covered by annexation agreements in every annexation since the City East Annexation in 2002.
If the Recommendation is approved staff will begin the formal statutory process of annexation and prepare the various plats, resolutions, ordinances, annexation reports and other documents for presentation to the Gillette City Council for action to set a date for the annexation public hearing. |
