BACKGROUND:
On April 14, 2014, City Administration began advertising for the available board positions with ending terms of June 30, 2014. Applications were being accepted through May 19, 2014 until 4:00 p.m. City Administration received the following applications:

Board of Adjustment
~ Madison Brown

Quasi–judicial, statutorily established board with authority to grant variances from the City’s Zoning Ordinance. This board meets as needed on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Board members serve a three-year term. Limited to City Limits

CC Joint Powers Fire Board
~ Cory Bryngelson (Reapplied for 1st Full Term)

Oversees the operation of the City/County Fire Department. This board is comprised of three City appointees, four County appointees and one appointee from the Town of Wright, all of whom serve three-year terms. This board meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Station One, Community Room. Must be Electors of Campbell County and may not be employees of that Board.

CC Lodging Tax Joint Powers Board
~ Gradlying Brooks

At the primary election in November of 2012, the voters of Campbell County approved a proposition to establish a lodging tax county-wide. Wyoming Statutes require that a joint Powers Board be established to oversee spending the tax revenues. A Joint Powers Agreement to establish the Lodging Tax Joint Powers Board was prepared and approved by Campbell County, Gillette and Wright and then formally approved by the Wyoming Attorney General on December 5 of 2008. The Board has seven members, a majority of whom are from the travel and tourism industry. Gillette, Campbell County, and Wright may each choose one member, who does not need to be in the travel and tourism industry. The remaining four members of the board are appointed; two by Gillette and one each from Campbell County and Wright.

Investment Advisory Committee
~ Clifford Kirk (Reapplied for 2nd Term)

Advises the Finance Director and City Administrator on investment matters. Responsibilities will include periodic reviews of the investment policy, making recommendations for the development of an asset portfolio of the investments for the City of Gillette in compliance with Wyoming Statues that limits risk and provides adequate liquidity in an effort to maximize the rate of return. Other functions also include establishing benchmarks and periodic reviews of the investment portfolio, to include all investments managed directly by staff as well as those managed with the assistance of any investment advisory firms. This is a 3-year term meeting on an as-needed basis.

Mayor's Art Council

Advises the City Council on ways to create a more visually pleasing environment within the community and expand opportunities for residents and visitors to experience quality works of art in public places.  Reviews artist submissions and selects appropriate works of art to improve the aesthetics of Gillette in hopes of purchasing art through allocated funds or private donations.  The Council also works with various programs to enhance artistic talent such as Avenues of Art, Children's Memorial Walkway and the annual Christmas pin contest. No Residence Requirements.

Parks & Beautification Board
~ Karen Johnson (Reapplied for 1st Full Term)
~ Kyle Ferris (Reapplied for 1st Full Term)

Advises the Mayor and Council on all park development matters, reviews landscape plans associated with the development process, and promotes beautification of the City. This board meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Conference Room on the 2nd Floor of City Hall. All members serve a three-year term. Limited to City Residents.

Personnel Review Board
~ Jerry Likewise
~ Terri Lesley

The Personnel Review Board is the final review step for employee grievances and complaints.  Two employees serve on the board along with three citizensCitizens serve a three-year term and employees are elected for a two-year term. This board meets on an “as needed” basis. No Residence Requirements.

Planning Commission
~ Jennifer Thomas (Reapplied for 2nd Term)
~ Holly Helm

The Planning Commission is involved in the preparation, revision and oversight of development in the City limits and within the planning boundary in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan; Zoning and Subdivision regulations. The Commission is primarily advisory to the City Council on subdivisions, zoning map amendments, annexations, preliminary & final plats, vacate requests, and zoning and/or subdivision text amendments. Limited to City Residents

Any remaining open board positions will be re-advertised.
