An Ordinance Approving and Authorizing the Extension of the Boundaries of the City of Gillette, Wyoming, and Annexation of a Tract of Land Known as the Hagen-Shelstad Annexation, Contiguous and Adjoining the Present Boundaries and Establishing a C-1, General Commercial Zoning District. |
BACKGROUND: |
Ordinance first reading: 6/0 (Councilman Carsrud absent)
The City has received annexation petitions from the landowners owning the private property included in the annexation area. The property is adjacent to the current City boundaries on the north and west, and has an area of 3.66 acres. The property is located between Boxelder Road on the north and Country Club Road on the south, approximately 2,200 feet east of Douglas Highway. There are two (2) single family dwellings on the property. The Annexation Plat is to be signed by KAJ Hospitality, a lodging development company.
The area is a logical extension of the City limits and will be serviceable. The proposed zoning of the property is C-1, General Commercial Zoning District. The Comprehensive Plan shows the area as a commercial/residential mixed use area. The proposed land use fits the intent of the Comprehensive Plan. The existing development pattern to the west and north also supports this proposal. There is no significant City investment in support of this annexation.

SUGGESTED MOTION: |
I move for Approval of an Ordinance Approving and Authorizing the Extension of the Boundaries of the City of Gillette, Wyoming, and Annexation of a Tract of Land Known as the Hagen-Shelstad Annexation, Contiguous and Adjoining the Present Boundaries and Establishing a C-1, General Commercial Zoning District, Subject to all Planning Requirements on second reading.
