The I-90 Landscaping Project  (13EN02) consists of Landscaping Improvements to areas within the I-90 and Highway 59 interchange. The project includes the installation of a new irrigation system (including a new water service) to existing and new trees, the repair of existing planter beds and the planting of 16 new trees.

Bids were opened and read aloud on July 23, 2014 at the City of Gillette Purchasing Division.  One (1) bid was received on the project.

The bid results are as follows:

$173,760.76

The design of the project was completed in house by the City of Gillette.  The Engineer's Estimate was in the amount of $102,348.00.

Funding for this project has been allocated in the 1% Park Improvements Account 201-1011-419.73-11 in the amount of $100,000.00.

After review of the sole Bid for the project, a large discrepancy was recognized in the Bid for the planter bed items.  After discussion with the Contractor, it has been agreed upon to eliminate a portion of the planter bed items to bring the project within the allotted budget amount.  Planter beds #2-8 and #10-12 have been removed from the project which reduces the project cost by $85,236.  Planter Beds #1 and #9 will be completed in the contract as these are the planter beds that are highly visible and are more cost effective to complete at this time.  The City's plan is to restore the remaining planter beds with a subsequent project and with the assistance of the City of Gillette's Parks Department staff.

At this time it is recommended that a contract be awarded in the amount of $88,524.76.
