| An Ordinance to Amend Section 5-I-8 B (17) of the Gillette City Code. |
| BACKGROUND: |
Ordinance 1st reading: 7/0
Ordinance 2nd reading: 7/0
Revisions to the Key Box section of the International Fire Code have been drafted to address the concerns that were apparent in the Marshalls Jewelry appeal from the BOE. These revisions provide that Key Boxes will only be required for commercial buildings that also have a sprinkler system or a fire alarm and are not constantly attended 24 hours per day. Rapid City, Casper, and Cheyenne have adopted the sprinkler system or fire alarm standard and Spearfish has adopted the 24 hour standard. |
