SUBJECT: |
Council Consideration of a Resolution to Adopt the Third Amendment to the City of Gillette Retiree Health Benefit Plan and Trust. |
BACKGROUND: |
The City established the City of Gillette Retiree Health Benefit Plan and Trust (hereinafter "Trust") in 2003 to fund insurance premium payments and other benefits for certain retired employees and employees of the City of Gillette employed on June 30, 2003. The Trust is administered by the Trust Committee, who have recommended an amendment to the Trust, to allow a Retiree Participant and/or Eligible Spouse of a Retiree Participant to obtain additional coverage under any health plan that is not the City's while maintaining the City's plan as secondary coverage. The current language in the Trust does not have this flexibility and has prevented some insurance options that would result in cost savings for Retiree Participants and/or an Eligible Spouse as well as for the City's own health plan. |
SUGGESTED MOTION: |
I move for the Approval of a Resolution to Adopt the Third Amendment to the City of Gillette Retiree Health Benefit Plan and Trust.
