The City of Gillette has been purchasing this hydropower from Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) using the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN) as an intermediary.  As of April 1, 2015, the City of Gillette will be terminating the contract with WAPA to purchase this hydropower through MEAN.  The agreement with WAPA will allow the City of Gillette to purchase the hydropower directly.
