| A Public Hearing to Take Public Comment on Two Proposed Ordinances to Revise Rates for Wastewater Service and Electrical Service. |
| BACKGROUND: |
| A notice was published to set a hearing for public comments on an ordinance to Revise Rates for Wastewater Service, and an ordinance to Revise Rates for Electrical Service. If approved, the rate increases will begin for utility service bills dated after May 1, 2015. The rate adjustments were discussed at a work session with the City Council held on February 10, 2015. In order for the two ordinances to be effective by May 1, staff recommends that the Council entertain the passage of the ordinances on first reading at the Regular Council meeting on March 3, 2015 and then consider the subsequent readings on the following two Regular meetings. Passage on third and final reading on April 7, 2015, will allow plenty of time to publish the three ordinances so that they will be effective before May 1, 2015. |
| SUGGESTED MOTION: |
| At the conclusion of the hearing, the Mayor should ask for a motion to approve the first of the two utility ordinances on first reading, starting with the Utility Rate Ordinance that is next on the agenda. |
