A Proclamation Designating Friday, April 24, 2015, as Arbor Day. |
BACKGROUND: |
National Arbor Day is celebrated every year on the last Friday in April. Each state celebrates its own state holiday. The customary observance is to plant a tree. |
SUGGESTED MOTION: |
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Louise Carter-King, Mayor of the City of Gillette, do hereby proclaim Friday, April 24, 2015, as Arbor Day in the City of Gillette and call upon all citizens to support efforts to protect our trees and support our City's Urban Forestry Program; and further, I urge all citizens to plant trees to gladden everyone's heart and promote the well-being of present and future generations. |
