The City entered into an agreement with AT Architecture Inc. for Phase I (Preliminary Design Services) for the Gillette Aquatic Park on December 16, 2014. As part of the Phase I - Preliminary Design, multiple public workshops were held as well as an on-line survey to gather public input on the project and assist in identifying amenities that would be desired in a new outdoor Aquatic Park.
As a result of the public input and information gathered in the Preliminary Design Workshops with the City Council, the site for the project was selected (Southeast Corner of the Field of Dreams Property) and the program was identified to be a 12,000 SF to 16,000 SF leisure pool with water spray/play features, and a 2,000 SF tot pool. The project would also include the associated bath house and pool mechanical rooms, parking, landscaping, and ancillary facilities (pool decks, fencing, etc.). It was also determined that a water slide complex (2 to 4 slides) would be designed as a potential Additive Alternate to the project. The complex will be designed in a fashion that will allow for expansion in the future.
The Phase II Final Design Contract includes Schematic Design, Design Development, Production of Construction Documents, Bidding Services, and Construction Administration. The proposed contract is in an amount not to exceed $286,700. The Phase I Design Contract was $31,300 resulting in a total design cost of $318,000.
