The City bought the house and lot at 2000 Autumn Court from Steve and Sally Bruce in 2009 for $310,000 because some of the lot was needed for the new Boxelder Road right of way. That road has been constructed and the lot has been resubdivided in a plat which establishes the dimensions of Boxelder and the remainder of the 2000 Autumn Court lot. Over the last 6 years, the City has managed the property as a rental unit for temporary housing for newly hired city employees while they sought longer term housing. When the local housing market was very tight, it was useful to have this property available to help in the hiring process. Now that the housing market has cooled considerably, the City's need for the property has diminished. A Notice has been prepared to offer the property for sale to the highest bidder on simpler terms than what was proposed to the Council at the July 7 meeting. The Notice will be published on August 7, 14 and 21 and sets a deadline of August 28, 2015 for sealed bids to be delivered to the City Clerk. Instructions to Bidders and a Bid Form will be available in the Clerk's office for potential bidders. The Bids will be opened on August 31 and be considered by the Council at the next regular Council meeting. The Notice provides that "[t]he terms of the sale are CASH in "AS IS" condition with no warranties except merchantable title."
