The project consisted of the repair and rehabilitation of Pier 5 (between Highway 14-16 and the BNSF mainline) and the project alternant bid schedule, Abutment 2 (the north end) of the Gurley Overpass.  These parts of the structure were exposed to water leaking from the bridge deck prior to the 2010 replacement of the bridge expansion device. 

To arrest the degradation and stabilize these parts of the overpass structure, the project consisted of removing and replacing of weather damaged concrete, installation of cathodic protection anodes to the concrete reinforcing steel, replacement of deteriorated reinforcement steel, epoxy injection of concrete cracks, waterproofing and sealing of the concrete surfaces. 

S&S Builders completed the work within the specified schedule and was able to reduce the duration of the closure of the overpass to less than half a day.  They worked closely with BNSF to reduce potential conflicts or delays with the BNSF mainline.

The awarded bid amount for the project was $167,830.00.  There was one change order to make the final quantity adjustments which resulted in a deduct from the contract amount of $8,218.04.  The final cost of the project was $159,611.96.
