This ordinance has been prepared to increase rates to increase the revenues to the electrical fund by 7%. To simplify the ordinance, the actual rates have been moved into a chart in a new section 17-6 K. Previously the rate numbers had been mixed with the language in the rest of that section that described the various conditions that applied to each particular rate.

The increases will be to the fixed Customer charges as well as the Energy charges and the Demand charges. The monthly Customer Charges for Residential, All-Electric and Optional Commercial/Miscellaneous will increase from $20.35 to $21.75. The monthly Customer Charges for Commercial/Miscellaneous will increase from $31.50 to $33.75 and the General Service rate will increase from $70 to $75.25. The Energy Charge for Residential and All-Electric will increase from $.0825 to $.08800/kWh. The Energy Charge for Commercial/Miscellaneous will increase from $31.50 to $33.75/kWh. The Energy Charge for the Optional Commercial/Miscellaneous rate will increase from $.109 to $.11650/kWh. The General Service rate will increase from $.04150 to $.05270/kWh and the Demand rate has increased from $3.60 to $9.35 per kW-mo. In addition the Special Event Rate has been discontinued since no customers use that rate and the Green rate has been reduced from $.008 to .002 per kWh because of new energy supply contracts.

I move for the Approval of the Ordinance Amending Gillette City Code Sections 17-6.A.1, 17-6.B.1, 17-6.C.1, 17-6.D.1, 17-6.E.1, 17-6.F.5(a), Repealing Section 17-6.G, Renumbering Sections 17-6.H Through K -6.G Through J, Amending 17-6.G.3 and Enacting 17-6. K, to Revise Rates for Electrical Service Supplied by the City of Gillette.
