Bid were opened and read aloud on February 23, 2016 at the City of Gillette Purchasing Division and three bids were received as follows:
Bids Powder River Construction, Inc., $255,906.96 Hladky Construction, Inc., $269,619.32 S & S Builders, LLC, $280,820.20 Engineer’s Estimate, $181,819.50 Funding available for the project includes WYDOT Transportation Alternatives Grant in the amount of $133,840 and remaining funding of $48,160 of matching/overmatch funds from the Optional 1% Sales Tax – Traffic Signals Account for a total project budget of approximately $182,000. No errors or irregularities were discovered in the bidding process. Powder River Construction, Inc., submitted the low bid. The bids were higher than expected with increases in material costs for the Rectuangular Rapid Flashing Beacon Sign assemblies and the unit prices for the sidewalk drains. Staff recommends the City Council reject all bids and allow staff to make necessary design changes and re-bid the project such that the project aligns with the funds available for construction. |
