The City of Gillette, Campbell County, Town of Wright, and Campbell County Joint Powers Fire Board are partnering to construct a replacement Fire Station for the current Fire Station No. 3. The proposed Station No. 3 will be located on the west side of Enzi Drive at the current southern terminus of Running W Drive. The new location will provide for quicker response times and better serve the south-central portion of the community.
The proposed Station No. 3 design was based off of the Fire Station No. 7 prototype. Modifications to the Station No. 7 prototype for the Fire Station No. 3 project include a slightly larger apparatus bay with wider garage doors, completion of the dorm room area, addition of two dorm rooms with adjacent office space, relocation of mechanical facilities to an accessible mezzanine, and a slightly larger bunker room and day room. The structure will be founded on a driven pile, deep foundation system with structural floors and structural stoops at exterior doors. The preparation for the site paving will include a 24" granular subbase, a 6" gravel base, and 7" of concrete pavement with longitudinal joint ties and transverse joint dowels.
The project will also include the construction of Wenger Drive and associated utilities, which will connect Enzi Drive to Running W Drive on the north side of the Fire Station site. Campbell County School District No. 1 has approved the general design and location of the proposed structure in accordance with the lease between the School District and Campbell County.
The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submitted by the Construction Manager At Risk, Hladky Construction, Inc., in the amount of $3,583,555.00 includes the Fire Station and associated site improvements, landscaping, and road and utility improvements for Wenger Drive. The GMP also will bid a separate storage shed, masonry screen wall for a 3 yard dumpster, interior LED light package, and an epoxy floor sealant for the apparatus bay as additive alternates, which can be included in the project if budget allows.
The GMP also provided a schedule with Final Completion to be achieved by December 28, 2016. The GMP proposal is attached for reference.
