| Council Consideration of a Resolution of Support for the Energy Capital Economic Development Business Committed Grant Application for the Rex Carbon Activated Carbon Project. |
| BACKGROUND: |
| Campbell County intends to apply for a $4.5 million dollar “Business Ready Community-Committed Business Grant” from the State of Wyoming. The Grant will fund the construction of the infrastructure and utilities to establish an activated carbon manufacturing plant in Campbell County, Wyoming, contiguous to the City of Gillette, Wyoming upon land owned by Campbell County just East of the College Rodeo property. The REX Carbon, LLC plant will likely create 30 to 40 jobs initially for the City of Gillette and Campbell County, with the intention that the plant will provide up to 100 jobs for the residents of Gillette and Campbell County. REX Carbon, LLC seeks to receive City of Gillette utilities. In addition the Resolution provides that Gillette will provide up to $60,000 of the Local Match for the exclusive purpose of extending City of Gillette supplied utilities. The money from the local match comes from cost savings on the project to extend water to the College Rodeo facility. |
