| Council Consideration of a Bid Award for One (1) New Ford AWD Utility Police Interceptor SUV to Thunder Basin Ford of Gillette, Wyoming, in the Amount of $29,650.47. |
| BACKGROUND: |
|
This is an early replacement unit for the Police Department's K-9 unit PD4. The reason for the early replacement is that this particular vehicle had an electrical fire years ago and it has been a maintenance nightmare ever since. It cost the City $14,023.85 in maintenance last year alone, and it costs $2.23 per mile compared to the $1.20 per mile average for police vehicles.

| ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET: |

This replacement unit was approved in the budget for $47,192. The actual cost of this vehicle is $17,541.53 under budget. The remaining funds will be used to upfit the vehicle with appropriate lighting, City of Gillette signage, a cage for the police K-9s, etc.
