| Council Consideration of a Bid Award for One (1) New Refuse Body Installed On Existing Cab-Chassis to McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing Company of Dodge Center, Minnesota, in the Amount of $121,252.00. |
| BACKGROUND: |
| This is a replacement compactor, or refuse body, for the Solid Waste division's Unit 24. We are rebuilding the truck and reusing the 2009 Autocar cab-chassis instead of replacing the entire truck. We are testing this process because we believe the trucks we are buying are of excellent quality and expect them to last another cycle, saving the City approximately $140,000 on a new truck purchase. |
| ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET: |
| This replacement compactor, or refuse body, was approved in the budget for $100,000. The bid came in higher than expected due to the cost of installing a new refuse body on an existing cab-chassis. There will be no additional upfit cost because the signage, etc. already exists on the vehicle. Despite overage to install the new refuse body, the Fleet Replacement account will remain in the positive after all replacement purchases this fiscal year. |
