| Life Saving Award for Ryan Mussell and Kris Hunter (Council in Front of the Dais) |
| BACKGROUND: |
| Officer Mussell was dispatched to 3608 Tepee for an adult male not breathing. Officer Kris Hunter also responded to the call. Upon arriving on scene, they located an adult male, Eddie Leonard, lying on the floor. He was unresponsive and not breathing and didn't have a pulse. Officer Hunter began performing chest compressions while Officer Mussell tried to open Leonard's airway. Officer Mussell observed a substance blocking Leonard's airway and asked the family for a turkey baster or something similar. After obtaining a turkey baster, Officer Mussell was able to suck the substance from the airway. EMS arrived on scene and Leonard began to have a pulse and was transported to the ER. |
