Council Consideration of a Bid Award for the Base Bid of the Pavement Management Systems 2017 - Schedule A Project to S & S Builders, LLC., in the Amount of $765,199.75 (1% Project).
BACKGROUND:

The Pavement Management System 2017 - Schedule A Project includes construction in two (2) areas.  The project will include the rehabilitation of the pavement section on West Sixth Street from South Gillette Avenue to 300' past Warren Avenue and East Fifth Street from South Gillette Avenue to Emerson Avenue. 

 

The 6th street repairs will include a new concrete road surface and will eliminate some of the cross slope of the road by the addition of a block retaining wall along the Campbell County Parking Garage.  The 5th Street repairs will include the addition of upgraded concrete sidewalk, valley gutter, handicap ramps and curb and gutter.  The road surface will be patched on the block between Gillette Avenue and Kendrick Avenue and will include a full asphalt reconstruction from Kendrick Avenue to Emerson Avenue.

 

An Additive Alternate was included within the bid to add pavement reconstruction and miscellaneous concrete repairs on E. Fifth Street from Emerson Avenue to Brooks Avenue should budget allow.

 

The Project is scheduled to be completed in seventy (70) working days and must be completed no later than October 20, 2017.

ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET:

Bids were opened and read aloud on March 21, 2017 at the City of Gillette Purchasing Division.  Two (2) bids were received on the project.

The bid results are as follows:

Funding for the Project has been allocated in the 1% Optional Sales Tax Account 201-10-05-419-40-44331.

 

It is recommended that only the Base Bid in the amount of $765,199.75 be awarded at this time. Although favorable pricing was received, the budget does not allow for the Additive Alternate to be included.

I move for the Approval of a Bid Award for the Base Bid of the Pavement Management Systems 2017 - Schedule A Project to S & S Builders, LLC., in the amount of $765,199.75 (1% Project).
