Ordinance 1st reading: 6/1 (Councilman Kuntz voted nay)
During the February 28, 2017 Work Session, Council was advised as to the historic management of the various parking lots owned and maintained by the City of Gillette. Council determined a rate increase was required for the leased parking spots. Additionally, Council determined that those fines associated with parking violations occurring in reserved City Owned Parking Lots should be revised from the rate set by ordinance in 1978. This amendment will increase the fine for parking violations from $10.00 to $75.00 per occurrence.
Following discussion for the first reading of the ordinance on March 21, 2017, Council requested the fine for parking violations be changed from $10.00 to $50.00 per occurrence. The ordinance has been amended to reflect the Council's request.
Additionally, the current City Code makes reference to the "Gillette Parking Authority". In order to update the appropriate language with regard to the City owned parking lots, the language has been amended to strike the phrase "Gillette Parking Authority" and replace it with the "City of Gillette". |
