| A Proclamation Designating Friday, April 28, 2017 as the City of Gillette's Official Arbor Day. |
| BACKGROUND: |
| The City of Gillette will observe its Arbor Day on the last Friday in April along with National Arbor Day. This year also marks the 25th year that the City of Gillette has achieved Tree City USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation. The Forestry Division, along with students from CCHS, arborists from Campbell County School District and Campbell County Parks and Recreation, City of Gillette Parks Division, and the Wyoming State Forestry Division will celebrate by planting 25 trees, to signify each of the 25 years of Tree City USA. The theme for this year is "Gillette Digs Trees". |
| SUGGESTED MOTION: |
| Now, therefore, I, Louise Carter-King, Mayor of the City of Gillette, do hereby proclaim, Friday, April 28th as Arbor Day in the City of Gillette, and call upon all citizens to support efforts to protect our trees and support our City's Urban Forest program; and further, I urge all citizens to plant and care for trees to gladden the heart and promote the well-being of this and future generations. |
