On July 5, 2011, the Gillette City Council passed Resolution 2327 which sought to limit the extension of water and water services to locations outside the city limits until such time as the Gillette Regional Water Supply System was completed. Since the passage of the Resolution, water has only been provided to locations outside of the city limits when exceptional emergencies existing which could only be remedied through the providing of water by the City.
In light of the current status of construction of the Gillette Regional Water Supply System, Staff has recommended that Resolution 2327 may now be repealed as the constraints set forth in that resolution are no longer necessary. If the proposed Resolution is approved by the Council, beginning July 1, 2017, the City may begin providing water to locations outside the City limits at the request of Water Districts. |
