This scope of work will include:

• Construction Administration of the repair and rehabilitation of the Concrete Barriers on the Gurley Overpass
• Survey of the potential Deck Delamination for the design of a future deck repair and epoxy overlay project

The rehabilitation of the barriers will include the removal of unsound concrete, epoxy injection into the more severe cracks, patching of the removal areas, and resurfacing the face of the barriers.  A bid alternate to perform an epoxy overlay of the deck was also bid.

During the bidding of the Barrier Repair Project, a single spall area in the deck was observed in the south bound lane of the north deck.  The successful execution of the epoxy overlay depends on the repair of spalls and the precursor of these spalls, deck delaminations.  It is recommended to survey the deck and map the potential extents of these delaminations in order to provide a more precise scope and accurate estimation of cost for the delamination repairs and epoxy deck overlay.

Structural Dynamics, LLC has provided a costs for Construction Administration of $75,990.24 and a cost for the Deck Delamination Survey of $20,556.18.

The Construction Administration fees are based on the number of days allowed for the construction of the project.  Hours estimated for the project are proportioned throughout the project to meet that anticipated requirements for each part of the construction providing an efficient allocation of hours. 

The construction contract allocates 45 working days to final completion of the Barrier Rehabilitation Project.  The cost per day for the Construction Administration Services is approximately $1,688 per day.

The Deck Delamination Survey includes "chaining" the deck, mapping of potential spall areas, and drawings depicting the areas of potential repair as well as repair quantities for use in a future deck repair and epoxy overlay project.  The survey will be performed during the closures for the Barrier Repairs.

The total cost for the Construction Administration and Deck Delamination Survey is $96,546.42.

The project costs will be funded by the 1% Optional Sales Tax Account 201-10-05-419-70-47404.
