| Council Consideration of a Bid Award for the Large Asphalt Patch Project to S&S Builders, LLC, in the Amount of $175,770.90 (1% Project). |
| BACKGROUND: |
The Large Asphalt Patch Project includes asphalt paving repairs at several locations. These locations include 7th Street near S. Kendrick, 9th Street east of Green Ave., Brorby Blvd. north of Shoshone, Railroad Street west of Brooks, Railroad Street at Bundy, and Bundy Avenue south of E. Lincoln. Patching will include removal of failed paving, 18 inch deep subgrade preparation, 6 inches of aggregate base, and 6 inches of asphaltic concrete paving.
The agreement allows for 30 working days to substantially complete all the work. The patch on 7th Street will close 7th between Gillette Avenue and Carey Avenue. This work must be completed within 10 working days in order to reduce the impact on traffic near Twin Spruce Junior High School. |

Bids were opened on August 1, 2017. Two Bids were received. The results are as follows:

The low bid was 17% higher than the high bid and 6% higher than the Engineer's Estimate.
No errors were found with the bid packages.
The City of Gillette Engineering Division designed this project and will provide construction administration services in-house. Materials testing will be performed by a consultant.
The funding for this project has been allocated from the 1% Optional Tax Account 201-10-05-419-40-44331. This award is within the available budget. |
