Through the Gillette Urban System's Advisory Committee meeting on May 17, 2017, the City and County initiated an Urban Systems Project with the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) for the Boxelder Road-Garner Lake intersection traffic signal.  The County is in support of the project, however they elected not to participate in the project or fund any portion of the local match.

The next step is the design phase, which will be undertaken by WYDOT.  This Cooperative Agreement defines the roles and responsibilities of the City and WYDOT to complete the project, including the engineering and construction.

This is a multi-year process and it is anticipated the construction will occur in 2019, the year WYDOT has funding programmed into their S.T.I.P. for this project.

The Urban Systems Program provides funding to local entities at a percentage of 90.49 with the local match share being 9.51 percent.  Currently, $693,750.00 is appropriated into the Gillette Area Urban Systems fund for this traffic signal project.

The costs are identified as follows:

Preliminary Estimate of Construction Costs       $500,000.00

10% Preliminary Engineering                             $ 50,000.00

15% Construction Engineering                           $ 75,000.00

Total Direct Costs                                               $625,000.00

Indirect Cost Allocation Plan (11.0%)                 $ 68,750.00

Total Project Costs                                             $693,750.00
