This project is to rehabilitate various residential and through streets within the 4-J Subdivision. These streets were originally built in the early 1980’s and were rehabilitated in the early 1990’s. No major work has been done on the water system in these streets in the past. Experience has shown, the metal fittings are experiencing problems due to the corrosive soil in this area. Therefore, even though this is a pavement management project, substantial water work is being proposed (20% the project). The project includes milling of existing pavement, 2” Asphaltic Concrete paving overlay, and repair of curb, gutter and sidewalks where needed.

Two bids were received on this project, one from Simon Contractors and one from Croell, Inc. The project is forecast to take 2 to 3 months with limited detouring during the work.

The City’s 1% budget has $1,400,000.00 set aside in a line item for this project. The construction bid is $1,163,402.85.  This, along with the design contract leaves $136,097.15 left for the Construction Management for this project. The Engineering estimate was $1,237,896.00 or $74,493.15 above the actual bid.

I move for approval of a Bid Award for the Pavement Management System 2018 Schedule B Project to Simon Contractors, in the Amount of $1,163,402.85 (1% Project).
