This project is to rehabilitate various local residential and local through streets within the 4-J Subdivision. These streets were originally built in the early 1980’s and were rehabilitated in the early 1990’s. No major work has been done on the water system in these streets in the past. Experience has shown that the metal fittings are experiencing problems due to the corrosive soil in this area. Therefore, even though this is a pavement management project, substantial water work is being proposed (20% of the project). The project includes milling of existing pavement, a 2” Asphaltic Concrete paving overlay, and repair of curb, gutter and sidewalks where needed. The project is forecast to take 2 to 3 months with limited detouring during the work. KLJ, Inc. was the designer for this project and their proposal for Construction Management is in line with other contract of this nature.

The City’s 1% budget has $1,400,000.00 set aside in a line item for this project. The construction management proposal is $119,579.00. This, along with the other contracts leaves $16,518.000 remaining in the budget. The cost per day is estimated at $1,400.00 per day and is 10% of the proposed construction bid.

I move for approval of a Professional Service Agreement for Construction Management of the Pavement Management Systems 2018 Schedule B Project to KLJ, Inc., in the Amount of $119,579.00 (1% Project).
