The Large Asphalt Patch Spring 2018 Project is an extension of the Large Asphalt Patch Project constructed during the summer of 2017.  The 2017 Project included pavement repairs on 7th Street, 9th Street, Railroad Street, Bundy Avenue, and Brorby Boulevard.  Additional asphalt repairs were done under the same funding on Bay Avenue and on Kendrick Avenue.  Concrete repairs were also performed on Harder Drive and in the alley at 102 Richards Avenue.

The Spring 2018 Project will include repair of large failed areas in asphaltic concrete pavement on 3rd Street between South Gillette Avenue and Warren Avenue, and on J Cross Avenue between West Shoshone Avenue and Rocking T Drive. 

This contract allows for 15 working days to achieve substantial completion and an additional five (5) working days to attain final completion.

Bids were opened and read aloud on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, by the City of Gillette Purchasing Division.  Only one bid was received.

Simon Contractors' bid was in the amount of $78,822.00.

The remaining balance for the Large Asphalt Patch Project is $60,188.81.  Based on Simon's bid, there is an $18,653.19 shortfall in the remaining budget.

In order to complete the Spring 2018 work as scoped, $18,653.19 plus $2,000 to $3,000 for materials testing will be used from other projects' savings in the 1% Optional Sales Tax fund (the unused portion of the PMS 2018 Schedule A funds, for example). 

No errors were found in the bid package.  The City of Gillette Engineering Division performed the design and will provide the construction oversight for this work.  Materials Testing will be performed by a sub-consultant.

The funding for this project has been allocated from the 1% Optional Sales Tax Account 201-10-05-419-40-44331.
