Council Consideration for the Acceptance of Public Improvements for the Pavement Management System 2018 Schedule B Project, installed by Simon Contractors, in the Amount of $1,099,529.28 (1% Project).
BACKGROUND:

The Pavement Management System 2018 Schedule B Project (18EN03) rehabilitated various local residential and local through streets within the 4-J Subdivision.

These streets were originally built in the early 1980s and were rehabilitated in the early 1990s. The 2018 improvements included replacement of the water system’s metal fitting and fire hydrants, which was 20% of the project. The improvements also included milling of existing pavement, a two-inch (2”) asphaltic concrete overlay, and the repair of curb, gutter and sidewalk.

The project was scheduled to take 65 working days to complete, with ten additional working days to make final adjustments. Final adjustments were a total of 14 days, and liquidated damages were charged in the amount of $3,200.00.

ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET:

The original contract with Simon Contractors was in the amount of $1,163,402.85. The final cost was in the amount of $1,099,529.28. This reduction was made up of $58,276.07 from change order #5 which adjusted the final quantities installed, and $5,597.50 for retesting ($2,397.50), and liquidated damages ($3,200.00).

The funding for this project was allocated from the 1% Optional Sales Tax Account 201-10-05-415-40-44331.

SUGGESTED MOTION:

I move for Approval of the Acceptance of Public Improvements for the Pavement Management System 2018 Schedule B Project, installed by Simon Contractors, in the Amount of $1,099,529.28  (1% Project).
