| Council Consideration of a Bid Award for One (1) New Commercial Side-Loading Refuse Compactor Body to Southwestern Equipment Company of Justin, Texas, in the Amount of $114,250.00. |
| BACKGROUND: |
| This is a replacement trash compactor body for Unit 11, which is a 2009 Autocar Trash Compactor with a low capacity and outdated IMPAC body used by our Solid Waste Division. Unit 11 will run additional years with a new an updated commercial trash compactor body. This 36 cubic yard trash compactor body will replace a low capacity outdated compactor body that will reduce fuel and manpower costs due to a much larger trash body / fewer trips to the landfill. This bid includes transportation costs to and from the bidder’s facility and all labor and costs to remove and dispose of the old compactor body and the installation of the new. |
| ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET: |
| This “body only” replacement strategy immediately saves the city approximately $165,750.00 over purchasing an entire replacement cab and chassis / trash compactor unit. This replacement unit was approved in the budget under Project 19VM01, with $140,000 being budgeted. The cost came in at $114,250.00, leaving $27,750 remaining. The remaining funds will be used to up fit the vehicle with City of Gillette signage, etc. |
