| Council Consideration for the Acceptance of Public Improvements for the Pavement Management System 2018 Schedule A Project, Installed by Van Ewing Construction, Inc., in the Amount of $492,822.87 (1% Project). |
| BACKGROUND: |
The project replaced concrete paving on Camel Drive from east of the McDonalds entrance to the Campbell County High School parking lot. Selected sections of damaged curb and gutter and sidewalk were replaced. Business approaches were also updated to accommodate ADA standards and with commercial access curb radius. Drainage from the Smith's parking lot was corrected and grade changes entering the high school parking lot were improved.
The project reached substantial completion in the allotted 55 working days, with weather days added. Due to additions in the scope of work, Van Ewing was allowed an additional 7 days for a total of 17 working days for final completion.
Cooperation from Smith's Grocery, Camel Plaza Shopping Center, and Campbell County School District greatly assisted in maintaining reasonable access throughout the project. Camel Plaza Shopping Center allowed a short detour through their parking lot to accommodate continual access to Smith's Grocery. |
| ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET: |
The project was awarded for $579,117.34.
The only change order that amended the final quantities resulted in a reduction in contract price of $86,294.47. Project savings was realized by preserving the force account and not needing to repair pavement in the detour area.
The final contract price for the project was $492,822.87.
The project was funded through the 1% Optional Sales tax Account 201-10-05-419-40-44331. |
