SUBJECT:
Recognition and Presentation of a Landscape Beautification Award "Most Improved" to Gillette College as Selected by the City of Gillette Park and Beautification Award. - Megan McManamen
BACKGROUND:
The City of Gillette Parks and Beautification revised the awards previously known as the Landscape Beautification Award (awarded monthly) and the Landscape Excellence Award (awarded yearly).  The award is now called the Landscape Beautification Award, and has three different categories that people can nominate for:  Most Beautiful (one grand prize winner per year, will receive traveling trophy donated from Mayor's Art Council); Most Improved (one grand prize winner per year, will receive $500 in gold bucks, and will be asked to submit a report as to how the funds were used to improve landscaping); and Go Green (sustainability is a key feature in the design, residential homes are also included in this category and winners receive a sign that can be displayed on their property).  There is a google form on the COG, and it is the hopes of the Parks Board that citizens nominate businesses, rather than the Parks Board doing the nominating.
ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET:
The Mayor's Art Council traveling statue "What's Next, Dad" will be awarded to the winner of the Most Beautiful category.  A prize of $500 in golf bucks has been established for the winner of the Most Improved category.
