SUBJECT:
Council Consideration of a Bid Award for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Ultra-Violet Disinfection Building Addition Project to Van Ewing Construction, Inc., in the Amount of $485,000.00.
BACKGROUND:

This project will construct a two room addition to the UV Disinfection Building to relocate electrical equipment associated with the UV Disinfection system, installation of a new air handler unit, reconfiguration of existing air handler duct work, installation of a new air conditioner for the new electrical equipment room.

This project was publicly advertised on February 1, 8, and 15.  Bids were opened and read aloud on February 29 at 2:00 P.M.  Two bids were received and are summarized as follows:

Hladky Construction, Inc.     $518,178.00

Architect's Estimate              $450,655.00

Arete Design Group reviewed the bids and provided the attached recommendation to award the project to Van Ewing, Inc.
ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET:
Funds have been appropriated within the FY 2018/19 Budget from the Sewer Fund, Budget Account 505-70-75-443-40-47510.  A budget amendment will be necessary to cover the short-fall in this account.  Approximately $250,000 will be transferred from the EPA Equipment Replacement Reserve Fund to the Sewer Fund as part of FY 18/19 Budget Amendment No. 3 to be considered separately by the City Council in June 2019.
