Council Consideration of a Bid Award for the 2019 Water Main Replacement Project to Hot Iron, Inc., in the Amount of $1,983,230.95 (1% Project).
BACKGROUND:

This project consists of installing approximately 4400 LF of water main replacement in the following areas:

1.  10th Street from Rohan Avenue to 4J Road.

2.  11th Street from Richards Avenue to Dalbey Avenue.

3.  11th Street from 4J Road to west end of Cul-de-sac.

4.  Dalbey Avenue from 10th Street to 12th Street.

5.  Hog Eye Drive from Turkey Track Lane to Wagonhammer Lane.

6.  8th Street from Stocktrail Avenue to Tyler Avenue.

7.  Tyler Avenue from 8th Street to 6th Street.

8.  Frontier Drive from Lodahl Avenue to Cascade Drive.
ACTUAL COST VS. BUDGET:

The City of Gillette, Purchasing Division, opened bids for this project at the City Warehouse on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 2:30 PM.

The following table summarizes the bids received and the Engineer's Estimate.

BID IRREGULARITIES

Review of the submitted bids found no formal or informal bid discrepancies and KLJ considers all bidders to be responsive bids.

Based on the above evaluation, KLJ recommend that the City of Gillette award the project to Hot Iron, Inc. at the bid amount of 1,983,230.95.

CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATE

The total construction cost for this project was estimated at $2,434.654.00 and was prepared by KLJ.  The low bid received from Hot Iron, Inc. was $1,983,230.95, approximately 18.5% or $451,423.05 lower than the Engineer's Estimate.

BUDGET

Monies for this project have been budgeted from the 1% Optional Sales Tax Fund #210-10-05-419-70-47410 in the amount of $3,400,000.00.

CONTRACTOR'S REVIEW

Hot Iron, Inc. has no apparent problems with their bid.
