| Life Saving Award for Officer Jamisen Norlander & Officer Ben Squires |
| BACKGROUND: |
| On 01/19/2019 at approximately 0748 hours, officers were dispatched to a residence of an adult male who was unresponsive and not breathing. Upon arrival of Officer Norlander & Officer Squires they assessed the victim and found no pulse; however, the victim should signs of agonal breathing. Agonal breathing often occurs when the heart is no longer circulating oxygen-rich blood. In recognizing this medical emergency, Officer Squires immediately began CPR while Officer Norlander provided and attached an AED to the victim. No shock was advised and they continued CPR until the arrival of EMS. The victim was transported to CCH and eventually transferred to Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. The victim has since recovered due to the efforts of both officers. |
