The 2019 General Drainage Project at the Sage Bluffs Park will include the replacement of the low flow channel along the west and north side of the park.  The channel bottom is broken in many places and no longer drains properly along the north side of the park.  The channel will be widened to facilitate more efficient cleaning and will be shifted slightly south and east to reduce the abrupt drop into the channel for the north and west sides.

The project was bid with a base bid and an additive alternative bid.  Due to the competitive bids, it is our recommendation to award the base bid as well as the additive alternative bid.  

The number of working days to substantial completion allowed in the base bid was 35.  With the addition of the additive alternative scope, the days allowed to substantial completion will be increased to 70 working days.  We have allowed for a flexible start date due to the location of the channel.  We anticipate a late July - August start date.

Bids were opened and read aloud on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 by the City of Gillette Purchasing Division.  There were two bids. They are as follows:

One bid had an informal error that did not cause the bid to be rejected. 

GW Construction is the apparent low bidder.  They have been contacted and are satisfied with their bid.  The low and high total bids were higher than the engineer's estimate by 7% and 22% respectively.

The funding for this project has been allocated from the 1% Option Sales Tax Account 201-10-05-419-70-47405.
