| Council Consideration of Street Closures on the 3rd Street Plaza and Gillette Avenue from 2nd Street to 4th Street, on August 10, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for a Sparkler Welcome Event in Recognition of the Pyrotechnics Guild International (PGI) 50th Anniversary, Requested by the Gillette Main Street Board and the Campbell County Convention & Visitors Bureau. |
| BACKGROUND: |
| The event plans to have 2000 sparklers lit at one time as a welcome to the PGI, and in recognition of their 50th Anniversary. This is an attempt to beat the standing Guinness Book of World Records, which is 1700 sparklers lit at one time. The participants will encompass the 3rd Street Plaza and Gillette Avenue between 2nd Street and 4th Street. The Fire Marshal has been contacted and has approved the event. Mayor Carter-King provided written authorization for the use of sparklers at the event. |
