Sappor Gillette, Inc., purchaser of Sapporo Japanese Steakhouse, is requesting to have the liquor license, currently held by Sapporo Wyoming, Inc., transferred to their name. Kelly with the Wyoming Liquor Division contacted the Clerk's Office to inform us of the change of ownership. The Clerk's Office contacted the owner and obtained a transfer application, which was submitted to the WLD on June 4, 2019.  Once the transfer application was in process, the WLD allowed the purchase of alcohol from the State. A letter of assignment was provided by the previous owner, and per Kelly, the new owners would be allowed to operate under the previous owner's license until the transfer is considered by Council.

The public hearing, scheduled for July 2nd, was published on June 11th and June 18th. The establishment was posted with a public hearing notice, as well.

The public hearing was held on July 2, 2019. Sappor Gillette, Inc., did not have a sub-lease at that time, so Council did not consider the transfer on that date. City Attorney Reyes spoke with the applicant's attorney regarding the details of the lease. The lease was submitted on July 31st; the lease was rejected because the sub-lessor's name was incorrect and the lease was not dated. The applicant's attorney submitted a corrected sub-lease, which was accepted by the City and the WLD. All corrections have been satisfied and the transfer is ready for consideration by City Council.
