| Council Consideration for the Approval of Street Closures on the 3rd Street Plaza for Tuesdays July 16th, July 23rd, July 30th, August 6th, and August 13th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for the Farmer's Market, Requested by Gillette Main Street. |
| BACKGROUND: |
The Gillette Main Street has been negotiating with the Farmer's Market to move the market from the college to the 3rd Street Plaza. They finally worked out the details with a start date of July 16th.
They plan to close the plaza every Tuesday from July 16th thru August 13th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The market hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They are asking to close the plaza in two sections, from the Gillette Avenue intersection to the edge of the alley, and the Kendrick Avenue intersection to the edge of the alley, leaving 3rd Street open through the alley. This will allow traffic to enter the alley from 2nd Street, cross through the Plaza, and exit through either Parking Lot B or 4th Street. Plaza barriers will be needed at both intersections and in the street on each side of the alley.
If this proves successful, the committee may request that it continue through the end of September for this year, with the hopes of a permanent move of the market from the college to the 3rd Street Plaza.
